NEET 2024: Results, Grace Marks, Toppers, High Cut Offs, Exam Cancellations, and Paper Leak Controversies

The cut-off marks and qualifying percentile scores for NEET UG 2024 have been increased this year. Last year, the qualifying marks for unreserved category candidates were 720 to 137, which has now been increased to 720-164. Similarly, the cut-off for the SC/ST category has been increased from 136-107 to 163-129. As per the results, a total of 67 candidates obtained the All India Rank (AIR) with the highest mark of 99.997129 percentile. The medical exam was conducted on May 5 at various exam centres. How many candidates passed the NEET UG 2024 exam?

According to the NTA, a total of 13,16,268 candidates have passed the medical exam. Out of these, 3,33,932 candidates are from the unreserved category, 6,18,890 are OBC, 1,78,738 are SC, 68,479 are ST, and 1,16,229 are EWS candidates. Additionally, a total of 4,120 physically challenged candidates have passed the medical exam.

Statewise, the maximum number of passed candidates is from Uttar Pradesh, with 11,65,047 candidates passing the medical exam. In Maharashtra, 1,42,665 candidates passed, 121240 candidates from Rajasthan, and 89,426 candidates from Tamil Nadu.

The National Testing Agency conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) for more than 24 lakh candidates at 4750 different Centres located in 571 Cities throughout the country including 14 Cities outside India on 05 May 2024 (Sunday) from 02:00 P.M. to 05:20 P.M.(IST). As per data, out of the total number of candidates, 23,33,297 candidates remained present and 72,782 were absent on the day of the exam. The examination was also conducted in 14 cities outside the country Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait City, Lagos, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, and Singapore.

NEET UG counselling schedule soon

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release the details and schedule of the counselling process. The  counselling would be conducted by the respective Counselling Authorities subject to prevailing rules and norms for admission in Medical Colleges/Dental Colleges under their ambit. Candidates are advised to be in touch with the respective Counselling Authorities and Institutions concerned for further details.

NEW DELHI: A large section of medical aspirants have started demanding for NEET re-exam 2024 citing paper leak allegations, last-minute implementations of grace marks for loss of time, and error in NEET results 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) clarified on Tuesday night that the NEET grace marks were awarded to students who raised concerns about loss of exam time. However, students have expressed dissatisfaction and said there is no clarity in the NTA statement. NEET 2024 Result (Out)

The NTA declared the NEET UG results 2024 for over 24 lakh students on June 4 at the official website, exams.nta.ac.in; 10 days before the result date. The NEET UG result date also coincided with the general election 2024 results.

As per the NEET results 2024, a total of 67 candidates got All India Rank (AIR) 1 with a highest score of 99.997129 percentile. The NEET cut-offs for all categories also increased this year.

Although the NTA rubbished the NEET paper leak claims, which started surfacing even before the exam was conducted. The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police department had arrested 13 people in connection with the NEET UG paper leak case. Later, the testing agency held re-exam for candidates who have different question papers in the Rajasthan exam centre.

NEET irregularities were also reported in Gujarat and Odisha as well. A criminal case has been filed against three people in Gujarat’s Godhra district, including a school teacher, who allegedly helped six NEET aspirants in solving the question paper in exchange for Rs 10 lakh from each candidate. The police also seized Rs 7 lakh paid to the teacher in advance by one of the examinees.

NEET grace marks 2024

Hours after the NEET result declaration, the NTA issued a statement explaining how some students got 718 and 719 marks out of 720. In its clarification, the NTA said that the decision to award grace marks was taken as per the court order to compensate for loss of exam time.

“The loss of examination time was ascertained and such candidates were compensated with grace marks. So, candidate’s marks can be 718 or 719 also,” the NTA said in its latest tweet.

Days before the single-largest national medical entrance exam, a video of a masked man claiming that the mastermind behind the BPSC TRE 3 exam paper leak may leak the NEET UG questions as well went viral on social media. However, there was no official confirmation or clarification from the NTA regarding this. Later, the testing agency called it “baseless allegations”.

Some students said that the NEET result 2024 notification had details on marks obtained by candidates in each category. However, it was later removed. They also argued that the last-minute awarding of grace marks is “unfair”.

Students also have started demanding for “the Apex Court order dated 13.06.2018” based on which the grace marks were awarded.

Aspirants have also expressed their doubts about the NEET toppers with the same sequence of roll numbers getting highest marks in NEET exam. “8 #NEET Candidates with the same sequence starting with 2307010168, 333, 403, 460, 178, 037, 186, 198 topped from same centre,” an aspirant wrote on X.
