Through the National scholarship portal, the students can apply for various scholarship schemes offered by the central and state governments. This portal has been launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. Through this portal, the beneficiaries can even check their application status. If you want to get a scholarship offered by the government then you have to apply online on the National Scholarship Portal by following the procedure given by us. Fresh applications are also being accepted from 21st August 2020. The students are now not required to visit government offices to apply for scholarships. They just have to go to the official website and apply for a scholarship.

UGC- Schemes (University Grant Commission)

University Grants Commission (UGC) is the Apex body for the higher education system in India. University Grants Commission is also hosting some of its scholarships on the national scholarship portal. These scholarships will provide financial support to the students of college and university. The application procedure for NSP UGC Scholarship has started and the last date to apply for the scholarship is 5th February (Extended). Don’ts For NSP Scholarship Form

  • Incomplete information should not be submitted: Never submit incomplete application forms. If the applicant has submitted an incomplete application form then his or her application will be rejected.   • Never wait for the last date: Always fill the application form before the last date in order to avoid any last-minute hassles. Role Of Ministry Of Electronics And Information Technology

  • The Ministry of Electronics and information technology is overall the owner of the National Scholarship Portal
  • The ministry is also responsible for end to end processes of NSP
  • Ministry of Electronics and information technology is responsible for providing administrative approval for NSP to NIC

  • DBT’s mission plays an important role in the administration of National Scholarship Portal
  • DBT is also responsible for overall coordination with all the scheme owner ministries, departments and other government bodies
  • DBT mission will also streamline the process and provide guidance to the Ministry of Electronics and information technology and NIC from time to time
  • Review of standard operating procedures, guidelines, user manuals, and other documents which are circulated with NSP users is also done by the DBT mission

Institute Nodal Officer Registration Process

  • From the academic year 2019-20 those institutes that are logining in for the first time will have to fill out the institute nodal officer registration form
  • The Nodal Officer is required to login on to NSP by using the user credentials and complete the registration form by entering all the required details
  • After that identity document is to be uploaded by the Nodal Officer
  • Nodal Officer is required to lock the form and take a printout of it
  • After that, the Nodal Officer has to get it attested by the head of the institute
  • The form is required to be submitted physically to the respective district/state/ministry Nodal Officer
  • The district/state/ministry Nodal Officer will verify this form and details entered in the form
  • After that he or she is required to approve or reject the institute Nodal Officer registration form details on the portal by using the option verify Institute registration form
  • After approval the user credential and new password will be sent on the registered mobile number of the institute Nodal Officer
  • Duplicate copy of the application form will be shared with Institute Nodal Officer
  • Institute Nodal Officer can login on the portal by using user credentials

First Level Verification Process Of National Scholarship Portal

  • The correctness of details in the application form should be verified by the institute Nodal Officer
  • The documents uploaded by the students should also be verified by the institute Nodal Officer and Institute level officer is required to keep the copies of supporting document which is submitted by the student as the district/state/ministry Nodal Officer can ask for copies from the institute Nodal Officer from time to time
  • The institute Nodal Officer can verify the application, reject the application or defect the application
  • If the institute Nodal Officer rejected or defect the application the reason for rejection or defect must be provided so that it can be provided to the student
  • Defected application will be returned to the student for correction
  • The student is required to correct the mistakes and then submit the application
  • It is the responsibility of the Institute Nodal Officer to make sure that all the appropriate due diligence is done in accordance to the scheme guidelines and internal processes

District/State Level Nodal Officer Creation

  • When the ministry Nodal Officer create the user for state the login credentials for state nodal officers are created
  • The ministry Nodal Officer enters all the required details
  • After the entry of details in the system a unique username will be generated by the system and the username and password will be sent to the mobile number of the state Nodal Officer registered by the Ministry
  • When the state Nodal Officer creates the user for the district then the login credentials for district nodal officers are created
  • The state nodal officers enter all the required details
  • After the entry of details in the system, a unique username will be generated by the system and the username and password will be sent to the registered mobile number of the district nodal officer registered by the state Nodal Officer
  • If there is change in the district Nodal Officer then he or she shall approach the state Nodal Officer with the request to reset the password on change mobile number
  • If the state Nodal Officer is changed then he or she can approach the ministry level Nodal Officer and request to reset the password and change the mobile number

Some Important Information Regarding Stakeholders

  • If there is any unauthorized activity on NSP the government can take legal action
  • NIC cannot directly answer any RTI related queries
  • The outcome of validation that are done by external agencies will be treated as final
  • Any grievance arising with such outcome will be dealt by the nodal verifying agency
  • NIC will be responsible for the safety of the data
  • The parties has required to take all the reasonable measures to achieve the objective of the project
